Halcyon Heroine

Nikki Bauman is the principal designer and owner of Halcyon Heroine. A native New Englander, Nikki was born and raised in Connecticut, where from a very early age she held a vibrant desire to create and began training in a multitude of Fine Arts both academically and through the private teachings of her incredibly talented grandfather (known and loved as Pop.) Her work has always centered around color, texture, and organic form, which led her to pursue a Bachelors Degree in Textiles, Merchandising, and Design from the University of Rhode Island. After graduating she worked in Interior Decorating and Design in Connecticut, Boston, and San Francisco before returning to Rhode Island in 2011. Nikki had made her first fascinator as part of a Halloween costume a few years prior but as requests from friends and loved ones increased, she began selling them on Etsy and focusing more attention on accessory design. Halcyon Heroine (much like its owner herself) has grown into an ever-evolving design machine, producing original hair fascinators, cocktail hats, belts, and boutonniéres that chime back to a time when dramatic accessories were essential elements of every outfit. Each piece is hand-made using cruelty-free feathers, a variety of textiles, and antique buttons, so no two are ever identical! Her collections range from everyday wear to bridal and event pieces and most styles can be customized to fit specific needs. Though Nikki continues to offer her Interior Decorating services and practice her fine art mainstays of painting and drawing, she has found a passion for millinery and accessory design and truly loves making each and every piece! She works by a simple mantra: "The ability to harness and share your creative energy is a responsibility, an opportunity, and above all, a tremendous gift."
